'14 Petite Sirah - Dry Creek
Dry Creek Valley
Our Petite Sirah vines are young and grow on gravely soil at the very bottom of dry creek valley just next to lambert bridge. The old, alluvial soils that wash down the creek and off the mountains have left deep soils and many rocks and stones in these vineyards. The vines seem to love these growing condidtions and faithfully produce consistant quality fruit for both our table wine and our Port year after year. Every year we race against the first fall rains to ripen our grapes ( I like to pick very ripe - 27-29 Brix ripeness if possible) and it seems that Mother Nature is always bringing the first Fall storms in when the grapes are only 25.5 to 26.0 Brix ripe!! Well the resulting wines always turn out perfect - so what can I say!!
